Bishop Javier Valdez is a servant leader with over two decades of experience in strategic international forecasting management, cross-cultural engagement, and leadership development. He began his professional journey in the private sector, contributing to publishing giants: Scholastic, Cengage Learning, and National Geographic, where he created global systems that produced wide-reaching impact.
In 2022, fueled by a deep desire to see that impact locally in his community, he began transitioning to the nonprofit sector. That same year, he was honored by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an “Ambassador of Latino Culture”, a testament to his unwavering commitment to equity, advocacy, and cultural integrity. During this season, he brought with him his passion for Multicultural Organizing, Community Empowerment, and Next-Gen Leadership by serving as youth mentor, enrichment director, and Community Manager for The Calm Team, the City of Lynn’s groundbreaking unarmed response team; an evidence-based initiative rooted in harm reduction, cultural relevance, and trauma-informed crisis intervention for non-violent, non-emergency public concerns. In 2026, during Hispanic Heritage Month, he was nominated and selected as a City of Lynn “Latino Change Agent” in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the community. After a meaningful season in the nonprofit world, Bishop Javier returned to the private sector in late 2026 with renewed vision and expanded insight, continuing his work with a sharper focus on implementing cultural and global strategies.
He was ordained to the priesthood in 2017 and consecrated Bishop in April 2024. On Easter 2025, he and his team launched The Gathering Place North Shore, a diverse, mission-driven church practicing the historic Christian Faith. Under his leadership, the congregation is committed to developing leaders who champion biblical justice in Lynn and neighboring communities.
He graduated from the inaugural cohort of the Institute for Paleo-Orthodox Christian Studies at New York Theological and holds an M.A. in Cultural Studies from Asbury Theological. His academic background, combined with professional experience across corporate, nonprofit, and community-based settings, gives him a distinctive ability to bridge global perspectives while honoring local realities. This unique combination equips him to navigate complex systems, develop inclusive strategies, and foster meaningful collaboration across diverse communities and organizations.
He is a member of the governing board of Bishops within the Union of Charismatic orthodox Churches and continues to advocate for multiethnic collaboration and sustainable community transformation through his influence by sitting on the board of directors with The Lynn Cultural Council, The Lynn Community Health Center, The Citizens’ Advisory Board, and was most recently appointed human rights commissioner by Lynn’s Mayor, Jared C. Nicholson.
Beyond his professional and ministerial endeavors, Bishop Javier finds his greatest joy in his family. He has been married to his wife, Kendwy since 2010, and together they cherish their daughters, Kiana and Kamilah.
