The Last Encounter

Two disciples walked away from Jerusalem carrying disappointment and confusion.  They believed their hopes had died with Jesus, but unbeknownst to them, the risen Christ joined them on the road.  They didn't recognize Him at first, but as Jesus opened the Scriptures, revealed God's plan, and broke bread with them, their hearts began to burn again.  Their encounter reminds us that Jesus can be present even when we don't recognize Him.  He meets us in disappointment, walks with us through our questions, and restores hope when we think the story is over.
